Dermax® Plus Cream is a dermatological gel-cream with a soothing and calming effect , designed to promote skin comfort, when the skin experiences redness, heat, itching or sensations of discomfort that require immediate relief.
At the heart of the formula are phycocyanins , water-soluble protein-pigments extracted from the Klamath microalgae (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae). Phycocyanins represent the active and distinctive element of Dermax® Plus Cream [1,2,3].
Phycocyanins are studied for their antioxidant activity and their role in modulating mechanisms associated with skin inflammation. At the molecular level, they modulate redox-sensitive pathways such as COX-2 and NF-κB and exhibit antioxidant activity against reactive oxygen species (ROS) [2,3]. This contributes to maintaining the balance of the skin microenvironment in conditions of increased sensitivity and discomfort.
The efficacy of phycocyanins is enhanced by the synergy with tocopherol and ascorbyl palmitate , which protect membrane phospholipids from peroxidation. The alkylamides of Zanthoxylum bungeanum are studied for their involvement in the transmission mechanisms of itch and cutaneous neurosensory discomfort [4].
Geranium monoterpenes ( citronellol, geraniol) and patchouli patchoulol complete the formula’s sensory and functional profile, while bitter orange floral water provides freshness and delicacy. The skin-friendly lipid matrix —rich in medium-chain triglycerides, shea butter , macadamia oil , and lecithin —promotes the cohesion of the stratum corneum, provides softness , and supports the integrity of the skin barrier [5,6,7].
